Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn has scheduled a hearing to examine the city's response to pothole repairs and roadway maintenance.

A proposal in the Massachusetts House budget would provide $4 million to support Boston's response to drug use, homelessness and public safety issues in the area around Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard, known as Mass. and Cass.

Police are continuing to investigate a March 29 shooting in the South End that left two people injured.

Ryan Louis Hurley of Boston died unexpectedly of natural causes March 9, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Boston's South End known to friends and neighbors simply as "Duffy," died Dec. 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was 86.
