The Equity Project
What: Join us at Hibernian Hall to celebrate the works of Black Women Composers and bring attention to the gender pay gap in America through an interactive panel discussion with the musicians and event organizers. Through an uplifting evening of sharing music and creativity, we will come together in the spirit of advocacy. Presented by Community Organizer and Mass NOW's 2016 Feminist in Action Grantee Zahra Ohldin, in partnership with NorthStar Duo.

Family Health Fair
What: Join Charles River Community Health for their annual family health fair. There will be face painting, healthy snacks, health screenings, information tables and a teddy bear clinic! This event is free and open to all.

Back to School BB
What: The annual Whittier Street Health Center back to school BBQ! There will be free food, music, fun games, a talent show, kid moon bouncers and more. We will be giving out free backpacks and school supplies as long as they last. All families are invited!

Salsa in the Park
What: Fun, free and family friendly outdoor dancing experience to promote health and wellness! Performances, health information, music corner, social dancing and more! Kerry Thompson, a DeafBlind dancer herself, of Silent Rhythms Boston will also teach Salsa in American Sign Language (ASL) to those who are deaf/hard of Hearing and/or blind!
When: Every Monday through August 28th 6pm-9pm next Salsa in the Park will be held Monday, August 7th

Wellness Warrior Yoga in Franklin Park
What: Outdoor Yoga series under the trees on School Master Hill. Bring water, wear comfortable clothes, and invite friends and the entire family. In the event of rain, classes will be canceled; please check Linda Wellness Warrior's Facebook page for notices-posted by 9 pm the night before for morning classes. All levels welcome.

What: Every Friday evening families can enjoy the entire Boston Children's Museum for $1. The museum includes an Art Studio, Construction Zone, and more.

Tennis in the Parks 2017
What: Free lessons for beginner/intermediate players - kids ages 5 and up and adults at the same time. This is a drop-in program designed to introduce and reinforce the fundamental skills of the sport. Kids and adults will be taught on separate courts. Tennis rackets and balls will be provided- just come wear sneakers and bring water! There are two locations:
1. Where: Shattuck Grove Courts/Franklin Park - from June 3rd to August 11th
When:

  • Adults - Tuesdays and Thursdays 9-11am
  • Youth (ages 5-10 years old) - Saturdays 11am-12pm
  • Youth (ages 11-17 years old) - Saturdays 12-2pm
  • Adults - Saturdays 12-2pm
    2. Where: Almont Park in Mattapan - from July 5th to August 13th
    When: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays
  • Youth (ages 5-10 year- olds) - 6-7pm
  • Youth (ages 11-17-year-olds) - 6-8pm
  • Adults - 6-8pm

    What: Classic & popular, family-oriented movies shown each Friday night throughout the summer at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Esplanade for free!
    When: Every Friday evening between June 23rd and August 25th. Movies begin at sunset (approximately 8 pm)
