Check the signs. Move your car.
A sure sign of spring in the South End: street sweeping is back — starting this week after a snowstorm delay, and, as always, getting an earlier start here than in most Boston neighborhoods.
That means parking rules are back in effect. If your car is on the wrong side of the street, you may come back to a clean curb... and no car. Vehicles can be ticketed and towed.
If your car does get towed, you can find it by calling the Boston Police tow line at 617-343-4629 or searching online at boston.gov/towed-vehicles.
Cleaning Tips for Residents:
Give your sidewalk a quick sweep or rinse before your street is cleaned
Push winter sand and debris into the street on your scheduled day
Loosen any packed buildup along the curb so sweepers can collect it more easily
And the big one: move your car. Those sweepers can't do much with a line of parked cars in the way.
Check posted signs for your street's schedule — and consider it your annual reminder that Boston has officially entered mud season.
