Dimitris Niflis, a Senior Therapeutic Mentor at the South End-based Home for Little Wanderers, received the Excellence in Best Practices Award at the Association for Behavioral Healthcare's annual Salute to Excellence Awards ceremony on Oct. 24 at the Boston Marriott Burlington.
Niflis was recognized for providing structured, strength-based support services to at-risk, abused, and neglected children and adolescents. He tailors therapeutic interventions—including cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment—to meet individual needs and interests.
Due to his expertise, Niflis is assigned the most complex cases. Many of the youth he has served graduate from the program and have their cases closed due to significant progress made in their treatment.
"This year's Salute to Excellence Awards winners are representative of the community behavioral health professionals throughout the Commonwealth," said ABH President and CEO Lydia Conley. "They are unwavering, compassionate providers of recovery and resiliency."
The Association for Behavioral Healthcare represents more than 80 organizations that are the primary providers of community-based behavioral healthcare in Massachusetts, serving more than 80,000 individuals daily.
