Boston Police Investigate String of South End Break-Ins

Boston police are investigating multiple burglaries in the South End neighborhood, including a break-in at a fire-damaged restaurant and several residential properties.

The Banyan Bar + Refuge was targeted despite being closed since a June fire, with the burglar forcing open the front door that displayed a "closed due to fire" sign. It is believed the break-in occurred the last weekend in July, as the business was working to reopen.

A Boston woman has been charged in a break-in of a street-level Worcester Square apartment on the night of July 19. The suspect allegedly ate food, bathed, and stole jewelry from a resident's apartment while they were away.

Police found the apartment in disarray with "multiple food/beverage items opened all over" and various areas rearranged. Surveillance cameras on East Concord Street captured footage of the intrusion.

The suspect was arrested that day for trespassing and again Tuesday on active warrants. She remains in custody.
