Thursday Jun 26, 2025
The Friends of Harriet Tubman Park, Union Church, and the Canadian Consul of Boston co-hosted a Juneteenth celebration on June 22, featuring a wreath-laying ceremony to honor abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
The Canadian Consul placed the wreath in recognition of Tubman's role as a conductor on the Underground Railroad, through which she guided enslaved people to freedom in Canada. Tubman also maintained strong ties to Boston's activist community, contributing significantly to the city's abolitionist and women's rights movements.
The celebration concluded with remarks and musical performances at Union Church.
