Better late than never: Two of the South End's much-loved concert series returned this month, a little later than usual due to this year's pandemic-related uncertainty but just in time to delight neighbors eager to return to South End summer fun.
The Titus Sparrow Summer Concert Series returned on Wednesday, July 14 with the Fifth Season Quartet, which infuses jazz classics and originals with Bulgarian musical traditions of founders Elena Koleva (vocals) and Plamen Karadonev (piano, accordion).
The series will continue every Wednesday night at 6:30 PM through September 1, the final show with songstress Eva Davenport, which begins at 6:00 PM. See www.titussparrowpark.org for the full schedule.
Penni Layne and the Wonder Boys brought their special R & B and soul groove to Worcester Square when the Music on the Square concert series made its season debut on Thursday, July 22. Singles, couples and families gathered around the fountain and on the lawn to eat, drink, chat and dance, and didn't let a little rain dampen their high spirits.
The series will continue with a concert in August and a special Sunday afternoon show in September. Details on the August and September dates will be announced at www.worcestersquare.org and at the WSANA Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/WorcesterSquare.
