Three shot Monday on Mass. Ave. near Tremont

On Monday, just after 11:30 p.m. three people were wounded in a shooting. One woman was found inside 521 Massachusetts Ave., another found outside the building and a man found on Northampton Street near Shawmut Avenue.

Reports indicate a witness saying that a group of men opened fire on women and another group of men responded with gunfire.

Several cars were hit by gunfire. One nearby resident reports he heard what sound like half a dozen or so shots.

Boston Police Superintendent-in-Chief William Gross said the women appeared to be hit by birdshot, the man with a large-caliber pistol bullet. A shotgun and a pistol were recovered on Northampton Street. The victims are expected to survive.

Ross told the Boston Herald on Wednesday, "Right now, it looks like we do have a person of interest that we're looking at as one of the possible shooters,"

Police urge the public with information to call 1-800-494-TIPS or text the word "TIP" to CRIME (27463) and report a crime anonymously to our Crime Stoppers unit.
