Saturday, April 25, 2015, Boston police officers, along with Boston University PD and MA State PD, took advantage of the sunny weather to assist cyclists along the Southwest Corridor spruce up their bikes in anticipation of Spring.
The officers and the Boston Cyclists Union treated riders to a tune-up and bike wash, along with free helmets, WD-40 cleaning products, snacks, coffee, and music. In the pictures above, BPD Sergeant Gino Provenzano works with a trooper give a passing biker a rinse and a member of the Cyclist Union oils a chain. Even the kids got to join in the fun!

Also on April 25, 2015, Sergeant Luke Taxter and Boston police officers from the District D-4 (South End) Community Service Office joined Washington Gate Main Street Inc., Boston University Government & Community Affairs, and Roxbury community members to do some spring cleaning in Ramsay Park for Boston Shines.

These volunteers were among many that came together all over Boston for the first weekend of Boston Shines, a project focused on expanding volunteer opportunities and local university engagement, youth development, and uniting neighbors and communities. In case you missed Boston Shines in your neighborhood this weekend, there are still plenty of opportunities to volunteer this spring.
