Linehan woos unions, Lee woos organizations

While Suzanne Lee has a list of 16 media companies, ward committees and organizations endorsing her, incumbent District 2 City Councilor Bill Linehan has clocked in at 14 endorsements, most of which come from Unions.

In a surprising victory, Lee beat out Linehan in the primary election on Sept. 27, edging South Boston resident Bob Ferrara out of the race for the District 2 City Council seat. Lee received 39 percent of the vote, Linehan 35 percent and Bob Ferrara 26 percent. The question many are asking now is how will those who voted for Ferrara vote in the final election on Nov. 8.

Lee is endorsed by: Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, Asian American Action Fund, Chinese Progressive Political Action, Neighbor to Neighbor-MA, Sierra Club-MA, DotOUT, Bay State Stonewall Democrats, Boston Ward 5 Democratic Committee, Barbara Lee, UAW Massachusetts, State CAP Council, Oiste, UNITE HERE New England Joint Board, Boston Ward Democratic Committee, Young Democrats of Massachusetts, Greater Boston Young Democrats, South End News

Linehan is endorsed by: New England Council of Carpenters Union, Iron Workers Union Local 7, BFD Union, BPPA Union, MBTA Local 589, Sheetmetal Workers Local 17, SENA Local 9185, Stage Hands Local 11, BPD Superior Officers Union, Pipefitters Union Local 537, MBTA Inspectors Union, IBEW Local 103, IBEW Local 2222, Boston Teachers Union.

Pressley and Connolly join forces

At-Large City Councilors John Connolly and Ayanna Pressley announced on Sunday at a fundraiser at the Red Fez restaurant in Boston’s South End that they have agreed to join forces. They will share resources and split campaign expenses.

The campaign for the five at-large seats is fierce, especially with the entry of former city council president Michael Flaherty.
