BUILD Boston-a non-profit which teaches at-risk high school students entrepreneurial skills to propelthem to college-held its 4th annual Gala Fundraiser on Thursday, October 30th, at the Westin Copley Place. With over 600 guests attending, it was the program's largest and most successful fundraiser to date. The event honored Tim Ferriss, author of "The 4-Hour Workweek," with the annual BUILDer Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In addition to his three bestselling books, Ferriss is known for his award-winning blog, his work as an angel investor and advisor (Uber, Facebook, Twitter, Evernote), and his philanthropic work in education reform. Also honored were Boston's Chief of Economic Development John Barros, and Davio's CEO Steve DiFillippo. (Due to the death of Mayor Menino, Barros was unable to attend.)

The evening kicked-off with a Student Business Expo, where Boston high school students enrolled in the BUILD program were showcasing the products they designed and manufactured through their own companies, and offering them for sale to guests. Examples include pens that play music, phone cases with inspirational quotes, and pillow cases with custom photos.
