News from the Hurley Block Neighborhood Association

After the contractor's update presentation at the last meeting in June, HBNA did write a letter supporting a variance to build a small structure on the roof to house the HVAC units (vs. having them on the ground). The HVAC units themselves will not be visible from the street given how the roof structures will be constructed.

We just received a postcard from the City of Boston Board of Appeal about a 9:30am July 22 public hearing for the church project, 728-730 Tremont Street. It asks for neighbors to call (617) 635-4775 to express an opinion in favor of or in opposition to the church developer's (740 Tremont LLC) request for a variance to "erect a deck for HVAC System." I just called in my opinion. The person simply asks for your name, your address, the project name, and a YES or a NO about the project. No commentary is needed or allowed! (Additional comments should be submitted in a letter or presented at the hearing.) At the most recent neighborhood meeting, as a group we supported the variance but one or two neighbors had some questions. In my opinion, telephoning in your opinion (short of writing a letter or going to the hearing itself) is the most efficient and effective way to show your support or to let your voice be heard one way or the other.

Also, the principal at the Hurley School has requested that during the day neighbors not park in the small lot with her space, as contractors need those spaces throughout the summer.
