The 2016-17 South End Writes series will resume on Tuesday night, September 13 at 6:30 PM with the award-winning producer, WGBH radio host, TV commentator and outstanding journalist Callie Crossley. Other speakers coming up include debut novelist and baker Louise Miller (The City Baker's Guide to Country Living; Dina Vargo (Wild Women of Boston) and the culinary luminary Gordon Hamersley. For details about the speaker series, now in its sixth season.

The FOSEL Local Focus window display at the library features an exhibit of ceramic books and book images by ceramicist Lori Pease, combined with a folded book display by NH librarian Victoria Mueller. Scheduled for September is an Urban Birding window display jointly prepared by the Audubon Boston Nature Center's bird sanctuary; bird images created by summer students at the USES Children's Art Center; and a slide show presentation by WGBH broadcaster and Talkin'Bird show host, South End resident Ray Brown.
