"Mayor Menino has delivered on his promise to transform our schools into a national role model for city schools that work. Our students regularly outperform their peers on national benchmarks, and BPS was recently named one of the ten most improved school districts in the world. He is a true partner to our students, parents, teachers and school leaders. Every day as Mayor he has pushed us harder to welcome all students to every classroom, to educate them soundly and to prepare them well for life beyond high school. We are grateful for his leadership."

Boston School Committee Chair

"Every time Mayor Menino visits a school, every time a parent, teacher, or student sees him, they connect with him as if he is a family member. He is a familiar and welcomed face in every classroom. For twenty years he has been the lead champion for making our schools world class. From expanding early education opportunities in the Circle of Promise to pushing us to double college graduation rates, Mayor Menino has promoted a reform agenda for excellence and equity for all students regardless of their race, income, language or family background. Mayor Menino has made investments in our children's education the top priority. He has always understood that great cities have great schools and that the return on investment will benefit Boston families for generations"
