John P. "Jack" Campbell

For the last 27 years Jack worked as the Manager of 5 Star Travel in Boston. Jack started in 1993 creating packages to the March in Washington for that year. Before this Jack was a City Clerk in City Hall and worked side-by-side with several Boston mayors who he helped get elected. Since 1994 he was affectionately associated with the Beantown Softball League (BSL) and the Boston Gay Basketball League (BGBL) having managed several Gay sports Teams, such as the 5 Star Generals, The Jackhammers, The Diablos and the Shooting Stars.
In 2007 Jack was introduced into the Hall of Fame of the BSL. Jack was an advocate for Gay rights, having volunteered for many years at the popular BGRF Block parties on Chandler Street during Pride. Since the 1960's he was politically active and marched in Selma, Alabama with the revered and respected John Lewis.
"One of our Stars stopped shining on August 5" Paul Moreno, of 5 Star Travel, indicated at the Service last week.
He leaves behind his two sisters, Ellen and Patricia, and two brothers, Stephen and Mark, and a very saddened 5 Star Family.
