Last week, the Boston Globe reported that Fenway Health President and CEO Dr. Stephen Boswell had, over a four-year period, protected a high-ranking Fenway employee accused of multiple incidents of alleged sexual assault and bullying. Fenway Health's Board of Directors learned earlier this year of Dr. Boswell's actions protecting the employee and took no action.

The programs and services operated by Fenway Health include the AIDS Action Committee, the LGBT Aging Project, the Sydney Borum Jr Health Center, and The Fenway Institute, a highly regarded research and policy advocacy center that's helped shaped LGBT and HIV/AIDS health policy at the local, state, national, and international levels.

On Sunday, the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Fenway Health announced that "Dr. Stephen L. Boswell and the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors have agreed that Dr. Boswell's employment as Chief Executive Officer at Fenway Health has ended, and he is no longer employed by the organization."

M. Jane Powers, MSW, LICSW was named interim CEO.

Robert H. Hale, chairman of Fenway's board of directors, resigned from his position on Monday.
