Fall Festival at CSNA

Glorious weather greeted attendees at Chester Square Neighborhood Association's (CSANA) fourth annual Fall Festival on Saturday afternoon, September 17 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 PM. About 150 people enjoyed picnic foods donated by Parish Café, Mass.

Food Mart and other local businesses; amused themselves with children's activities, music and dancing, historical displays and more; and availed themselves of a quick health check courtesy of Boston Medical Center's emergency-medicine team. The South End Historical Society had an information table at which local historian and author Alison Barnet sold copies of her book "South End Character" and the perimeter of the park was lined with historical photos of Chester Square.

A 1905 plan of the square revealed the owners of Chester Square homes at that time. CSANA's table offered information on its meetings and the issues it addresses including bicycle and pedestrian safety; stewardship of the square; homelessness and addiction in the neighborhood. According to CSANA president Carol Blair, an unofficial poll of the children who participated in face painting, a drum circle, lawn games such as ring toss, henna tattoos and reflective slap bracelets proclaimed this year's festival "the best ever!"
