Friday Oct 2, 2015

Loriann Meagher of the South End is co-chair of the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston's largest fundraising event, the 10th annual Heroes in Health Care Gala on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 776 Boylston St., Boston.

VNA of Boston is the oldest organized visiting nurse association in the United States. Since 1886, the agency has helped people live independently during times of grave illness and debilitating injury by bringing health care services into patients' homes.

Meagher has played an instrumental role in the Gala for the past decade, helping raise $2 million in essential funding for the VNA of Boston's direct patient care and support for vulnerable, underserved populations through the nonprofit's Maternal Child Health Program andCharitable Care Fund. Amy and Joshua Boger are the Presenting Sponsor of this year's Gala.

"Lori has worked tirelessly on behalf of VNA of Boston's mission. We're able to help premature infants thrive, elders with chronic health conditions live with dignity, and much more because of the community's charitable support," said Mary Ann O'Connor, president and CEO of VNA of Boston and VNA Care Network Foundation. "Lori's dedication is truly remarkable, and we are grateful for her insights and leadership."

The Heroes in Health Care Gala celebrates individuals who have made profound and sustained contributions to the health and wellbeing of the citizens in our community. This year's honorees are Dr. Edward Benz Jr., president and CEO of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; Larry Jasinski, CEO of ReWalk Robotics; and Mark Levin, Kevin Starr and Dr. Robert Tepper, co-Founders of Third Rock Ventures.
