Street sweeping will resume on March 4. The South End is one of a handful of neighborhoods that will have street sweeping return a month earlier than the rest of the city. http://www.cityofboston.gov/publicworks/sweeping/ hereto sign up for reminder notices.

This winter, the South End will be "space saver free!"
Any parking space savers found on South End streets will be removed by neighbors, Public Works staff, or the City's waste management contractor. You can call the Mayor's Hotline at 617-635-4500 to request removal of any items.

Free 'Selma' Movie Tickets for 7th, 8th, and 9thGrade Students
What: Selma, a Golden Globe winning and Oscar nominated film, is about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's impact on racial relations and how it is translated into society today. Due to generous donations of the country's most prominent African-American leaders, students in the 7th, 8th, or 9th, grade will be able to see this movie for free at select theaters. Students just have to show a school ID or report card for free admission.

Boston Medical Center Baby Café
What: Pregnant and interested in breastfeeding? Already breastfeeding and want to meet other moms? Need answers to breastfeeding questions? Join this free breastfeeding drop-in group for pregnant and breastfeeding moms. Snacks, support, and help from professionals will be provided.

Community Engagement and Membership Committee Kick-Off Event
What: The first CEMC meeting of 2015 is "Navigating Healthcare." Preventing Violence in the Community
What: Are you concerned about the violence in your community? As a business leader, does community violence impact you and your business? What are your thoughts on interactions with the police in your neighborhood? Join the Justice Resource Institute SMART Team program as they conduct focus groups that look at preventing violence in the community. Free Freedom Bound Performance by Mad River Theater Works
What: Freedom Bound is a musical telling the true story of Addison White, a fugitive from Kentucky who traveled north on the Underground Railroad. High Risk Youth Network's Monthly Breakfast Forums
What: The network defines youth at high risk as youth who are between the ages of 12-24, and meet one of the following criteria: court involved, truant or drop out, off track in school/not at grade level, gang involved, chronic substance use, homeless, incarcerated parent, pregnant, or parenting. It is acknowledged that there are other challenges and behaviors that could be deemed high risk. Join HRYN monthly breakfast forums for food and discussion.

Volley Against Violence (VAV)
What: Sportsmen's Tennis & Enrichment Center invites youth ages 4-17 are to play tennis for FREEand enjoy two hours of community fitness, food, and fun. VAV was designed and offered by Sportsmen's as an effort to decrease violence among Boston youth by promoting positive decision-making, socials skill development, and an opportunity to connect with adult role models. Sportsmen's has also enlisted the help of the Boston Police Department whose officers serve as coaches during VAV to foster positive relationships with youth and families in the community.

Club STAR: Sharing Together and Remembering

Star Gazing at the Observatory
What: The Public Open Night at the Observatory is a chance for people to observe the night sky through telescopes and binoculars and see things they otherwise might not get to see, and learn some astronomy as well.

Goodwill Training for Work in Human Services
What: HELP (Human Services Employment Ladder Program) is Goodwill's innovative course for job seekers interested in careers helping others. The two month program prepares participants to become entry-level direct support professionals in human services. Students learn the essentials of the field while gaining a significant amount of experience in personal interaction with disadvantaged populations. Students learn the nuts and bolts of direct care including terminology and methods, motivating and managing client behaviors, maintaining boundaries and identifying career paths. Graduates become qualified to fill the increasing need for caring, professional workers in community residences, shelters, day programs and other human services settings.
When: Orientation sessions for the next class are held on Tuesdays at 3:30pm, Wednesdays at 9:30am, and Thursdays at 9:30am.

The RTSC at the Federation for Children with Special Needs works to ensure that every child in state custody receives the educational supports they need to succeed. They strive to meet this goal by recruiting volunteers from across the state and providing them with the training and support they need to be effective Special Education Surrogate Parents (SESPs). Boston MRC Introduction to Biological Hazards Response
What: If there was a large scale biological incident in the City of Boston due to a naturally occurring outbreak or bioterrorism, what immediate actions would be taken to protect the public? This course will provide a brief overview of various types of biological agents, followed by a detailed explanation of recognition and response guidelines used by emergency services for such types of incidents. Participants will learn how they can protect themselves from biologic exposures, and how the Boston MRC may be used to support the public health infrastructure of the City of Boston during the recovery from a biological incident. You must have completed the Boston MRC Orientation.

Auditions for a Paid LGBT Youth Theatre Troupe
What: Looking for youth ages 14-22 who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning or straight allies. Juntos Dance Collective
