Supporting working families in the South End and surrounding communities

For over 125 years, Ellis has remained true to its founders' mission of strengthening inner city working families. The cornerstone of our services are high quality education and care for children, youth and vulnerable adults. The goal of our education programs is to ensure all children start school ready to learn and have the ongoing resources and support they need for academic success, ending the achievement gap in school for children from socio-economically disadvantaged families. We operate a state of the art Early Education Center at 58 Berkeley Street, after-school and summer programs in the South End and Roxbury for children and youth in grades K - 7, and an Adult Day Health Program at One Chandler Street for the elderly and disabled. The timeline below tracks our history and development over the years as we evolved to meet the changing needs of the neighborhoods, communities and city we serve.
