Summer Programs for Kids

Roxbury Community College is offering summer programs for kids. We have a 4-week Summer Arts Intensive program (ages 10-14) and two Summer STEM Weeks. Summer Arts features drama, theater, taiko drums, creative writing, and dance. STEM Week 1 (ages 7 - 10) features awesome chemistry and science experiments, coding, mini medical school, and creative writing. STEM Week 2 (ages 10 - 14) features LEGO Robotics, Money Matters, creative writing, and a STEM career panel. Limited spots - enroll today!

Free Tennis Lessons at Almont Park

Free drop-in tennis lessons for kids, adults, and seniors. Equipment provided.

MGHFC Club STAR

This group is for children and teens in kindergarten through senior year of high school and their parents who are grieving the death of a parent or sibling. The group provides opportunities to share experiences, create projects, and participate in memory making activities. There is a special group for parents/caregivers. This is a membership group, but new members are welcome at any time. Dinner and parking reimbursement provided.

Get a Free Bicycle with CommonWheels' Earn-A-Bike Workshops

This winter, CommonWheels is hosting its second season of Earn-A-Bike program, in collaboration with Charlesview, Inc. This program is specifically designed for women in the Allston-Brighton area. This program is designed to give women who lack financial access to a bicycle an opportunity to learn bike mechanics and maintenance while fixing up a bicycle that they will keep at the end of the program. Participants will be taught skills such as how to fix a flat tire, how to fix brakes, and how to fix problems inside your bike. This program is free, but available spots are limited and participants must submit an application to be accepted into the program. We will have two sessions, with the first beginning in January.
Participants who attend at least 5 of the 6 sessions will earn:

  • a fully functional bicycle
  • a helmet, lock, and lights
  • training on maintaining, fixing, and riding your bicycle

    YEAR UP Recruitment

    For young adults interested in taking their next step in their journey towards a career & higher education, Year Up's mission is to close the opportunity divide through a one-year intensive program. This free program serves youth ages 18-24 who receive an educational stipend and earn up to 31 FREE college credit recommendations while taking classes and completing an internship at top companies in Boston to prepare them for a professional career.

    Subsidized Hubway Memberships

    For only $5/year, low-income residents in the City of Boston can rent a Hubway bike for up to 30 minutes each ride at no charge. With this special membership, a free helmet is also provided. The subsidy code can be obtained from the Boston Public Health Commission. Must be 17 years of age or older.

    Inquilinos Boricuas en Accion (IBA) Summer Jobs

    Summer Learning Project ESL Lead Teacher position, 2 Summer Learning Project Visual Art Teacher positions, and a BPS Instructional Coach position are all available. IBA is also looking for a Teaching Artist for their Peer Leader Program to lead a workshop Mondays and Tuesdays from 1-3PM (for 6 weeks) with about 15 teens in their "art for social justice" program. Preferred forms of art include movement, theater, dance, music, spoken word, improve, etc but they are open to others! The Summer Learning Project serves rising 2ndand 3rd grade ESL students based at the Blackstone Innovation School in the South End.
