Women of Color Social Justice Summit
The Summit will provide a platform for women of color, from all over Boston in various leadership roles and positions to come together as one. Let Girls Learn at ABCD
A sexual health education program for any girl age 11-19 to learn about their body and development to empower their choices. Topics include: anatomy/physiology, HIV/STI, sexuality, consent, gender, unhealthy/healthy relationships, and how and where to access confidential services.

Yea! ABCD Youth Engaged in Action
YEA! Youth Engaged in Action is a three-week course offered to 150 income-eligible
middle-school youth. YEA builds on their ability to become young leaders through awareness,
advocacy and the opportunity to take action. Throughout the session, they will learn how
government works, how to take positive action on challenges that face our environment and
how financial wellness is important for themselves and their communities at large.
Summer Session: 7/16/2018 - 8/3/2018. All applications must be submitted to a participating neighborhood site by June 29th, 2018. The YEA! program will start on July 16th.

Summer Programs for Kids
Roxbury Community College is offering summer programs for kids. We have a 4-week Summer Arts Intensive program (ages 10-14) and two Summer STEM Weeks. Summer Arts features drama, theater, taiko drums, creative writing, and dance. STEM Week 1 (ages 7 - 10) features awesome chemistry and science experiments, coding, mini medical school, and creative writing. STEM Week 2 (ages 10 - 14) features LEGO Robotics, Money Matters, creative writing, and a STEM career panel. Limited spots - enroll today!

The Office of Housing Stability's Community Housing Clinic is a tremendous resource for residents - tenants and landlords - to talk one-on-one with a housing professional about landlord-tenant laws, learn how to access affordable housing opportunities and discover housing resources available to landlords and tenants. There is a free Jamaica Plain based playgroup in English and Spanish for children ages 1-5 years old. Each playgroup is 2 hours long, and parents should bring their children once a week. The playgroup takes place in a classroom setting and the goal is preparation for kindergarten. Each playgroup includes free play, circle time, snack time, and a gross motor/sensory activity. Parents are responsible for providing their own snacks. This is also an opportunity for parents to become familiar with Boston Public Schools and to meet other BPS parents. Get a Free Bicycle with CommonWheels' Earn-A-Bike Workshops
This winter, CommonWheels is hosting its second season of Earn-A-Bike program, in collaboration with Charlesview, Inc. This program is specifically designed for women in the Allston-Brighton area. This program is designed to give women who lack financial access to a bicycle an opportunity to learn bike mechanics and maintenance while fixing up a bicycle that they will keep at the end of the program. Participants will be taught skills such as how to fix a flat tire, how to fix brakes, and how to fix problems inside your bike. This program is free, but available spots are limited and participants must submit an application to be accepted into the program. We will have two sessions, with the first beginning in January.
Participants who attend at least 5 of the 6 sessions will earn:

  • a fully functional bicycle
  • a helmet, lock, and lights
  • raining on maintaining, fixing, and riding your bicycle

    ABCD WorkSMART Program
    This opportunity is available to Allston-Brighton agencies, businesses, etc. to get some extra help at no cost while helping to support local teens build job skills. ABCD has a group of youth who will begin working in the Allston/Brighton area in early February and are currently recruiting worksites within the neighborhood. The youth would be placed at the site for an 8-week internship, working up to 12 hours per week at their worksites after school. The students will also participate in job readiness curriculum prior to beginning their internship as well as attend weekly tutoring sessions throughout the program.

    YEAR UP Recruitment
    For young adults interested in taking their next step in their journey towards a career & higher education, Year Up's mission is to close the opportunity divide through a one-year intensive program.
