Season kicks off Sunday, May 6

Now in its 9th season, the SoWa Open Market hosts 120 local artists and designers every Sunday in Boston’s South End. Alongside the artist tents, The SoWa Food Truck Court boasts a rotating lineup of 15 unique food trucks including: Roxy’s Grilled Cheese (as seen on The Great Food Truck Race), Clover Food Lab, Bon Me, and Kick Ass Cupcakes. The SoWa Farmer’s Market offers fresh produce and specialty food from 60 local vendors. The SoWa Vintage Market is indoors and is packed with vintage finds. In addition to delicious food and quality products made by local artists, visitors will discover great people watching, adorable dogs, live music, and even chair massage. The SoWa Open Market is Boston’s only weekly outdoor bazaar. The 2012 SoWa Open Market season runs every Sunday from May through October. Opening day is Sunday, May 6, 2012.

If the opening day of the SoWa Open Market isn’t enough reason to visit the South End, the SoWa Art Walk is also taking place on May 6th. The SoWa Art Walk is an annual celebration of art. Over 300 artists open their studio doors, allowing the public a peek into their process and showcasing their latest work. See a listing of the participating artists and find a map with their locations at http://www.sowaartwalk.comĀ

In the May 2012 issue of National Geographic Traveler, the SoWa Open Market is featured as one of the top things to do when visiting Boston. "On Sundays, locals weave through the booths at the nearby SoWa Open Market for its triumvirate of art, antiques, and artisanal foodstuffs on sale. It’s also the place to come for everything from adorable stuffed narwhals to old subway token earrings to tangy Grillo’s Pickles."
