Man arrested with 9-year-old daughter in tow by Linda Rodriguez
managing editorThursday Jul 10, 2008 Stabbing on Washington Street A 33-year-old South End man was stabbed in the back at around 6:12 a.m. on July 4, by an unknown assailent while he was waiting for the bus. The victim told police that while waiting for the Silver Line at East Berkeley and Washington streets, the unknown men approached him. One of the suspects asked the victim, "Did you f*ck my wife?" before pulling out a knife, slicing the victim on the arm and then stabbing him in the back, just under his left shoulder. The suspects then fled down Washington Street. The victim was uncooperative with the police and refused medical attention; he described his assailant as a black male about 17 years old, but refused to provide any other information.
Man arrested on drug charges; had 9-year-old daughter with him A 38-year-old homeless man was arrested on drug charges at around 3:50 p.m. on June 30, after police found a hypodermic syringe and a bottle of purple-colored pills believed to be Hydroxyzine in his pocket. Eliu Matos, who gave his address as the Pine Street Inn, was found in the area of Albany and East Berkeley streets, with his 9-year-old daughter in tow. The arresting office first stopped him because he believed that Matos, who he had arrested on drug charges before, had defaulted on that previous charge. Once Matos was stopped, however, police discovered that South Boston police were on the look out for him after a 19-year-old woman over there reported that Matos had just stolen $120 from her apartment.
Matos, who appeared to be under the influence, was patted down, whereupon officers discovered the drugs, in addition to $112 in cash, and arrested him. His daughter, who was carrying a bag of convenience store snacks she said her father bought for her, was picked up from the D4 station by her mother. A report was filed with the Department of Social Services and police returned the $112 to the woman who reported the theft.
