When wannabe frat boys attack ... the South End!
by Brandon Simes
Managing Editor
Wednesday Feb 17, 2010

A 37-year-old man found himself in trouble in the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 13, on West Canton Street when he decided to act more like a petulant frat boy than an adult. Police were summoned not once, not twice, but thrice to the man’s apartment after neighbors called to complain about the noise emanating from a little soiree the suspect was hosting. After initially telling officers that the music wasn’t too loud and neither were his guests, our protagonist acquiesced and turned down the ruckus. Minutes later, officers were called back to the same apartment, and could hear the noise while they waited in the vestibule. They again tried to convince the suspect to end the night, and were met with mighty resistance. When one officer informed the man that a report would have to be written on the incident and he would need to show some identification, the suspect replied, "What is this, a police state!?" At this point a neighbor came out and asked the suspect if he had received her text about the noise, and then proceeded to tell the police that the suspect was a constant source of contention because of noise late at night. The neighbor added that every time she complains the suspect makes more noise and bangs on the floor. While writing the report, officers received yet another call, and met with the victims, who informed the police that after they had left the suspect stomped on the floor several times intentionally. Officers then proceeded to knock on the suspect’s door one more time, to which he greeted them with, "What do you want? This is ridiculous!" The suspect then denied stomping on the floor on purpose, and told the officers on scene that his uncle is a judge who would "have you doing desk duty for the next month." The suspect then asked for the officers’ names and badge numbers, to which they complied. Here’s guessing that uncle won’t make his presence felt in this case.

Tyrone Biggums is back!

For anyone who wonders why you can’t find a bathroom to use without spending money anymore, this is why. On Saturday morning, Feb. 13, at about 8:00 a.m., officers responded to a call for a fight on Albany Street. Once there, they were greeted by the victim, who reported having been punched in the face by a hard-core drug user. The victim said that a man, known to him as a trespasser, entered his place of business and headed to the bathroom. The victim confronted the man in the bathroom because he wasn’t allowed to use it, and found him smoking crack cocaine. An argument ensued, as one might expect, and the suspect punched the victim in the face. The suspect fled before police arrived and officers searched the area to no avail.
