Food fight
By Kate Vander Wiede | Tuesday Jun 15, 2010
It seems that name-calling and pushing aren’t flirtatious actions after all. A fight almost broke out between two grocery shoppers this past Tuesday afternoon, June 8, at Foodie’s Urban Market as a foul-worded argument over aisle space quickly turned ugly. A black woman and white male were both guilty of using derogatory names against each other as an attempt to get their points across, but after sitting in their respective time-out corners, both parties decided they didn’t want to press charges. Perhaps they realized name-calling never got anyone anywhere. Or maybe they were just too hungry to bother.

A 24-year-old Virginia resident was bemused by not only Boston’s confusing confines, but also the Charlie Card system itself, leading to an awkward cab ride on Saturday morning, June 5. The suspect Southerner, who had previously purchased a Charlie Card to pay for her travels during a visit to Boston, hailed a cab on Boylston Street. The cabbie drove her to Newton as instructed. Once there, she realized she had no idea where she was. The driver decided to bring her to the District 4 police station, where an officer chatted with both parties. The woman apparently thought that the Charlie Card was a credit card (!), apologized for her ignorance of Boston, and promised to send the driver a check for the fare once she returned to Virginia. The reason she went to Newton is still unclear, but thanks to some forgiving Northern Hospitality, the driver agreed to drop the Arlington resident back off at Boylston Street without his fare. Hopefully he also wrote his address on the envelope for that check.
Stay single

It appears that craziness truly makes its presence felt not after two people become a couple, but rather after they stop being a couple. An unfortunate 47-year-old Roxbury man informed police on Wednesday afternoon, May 26, that his ex-girlfriend had been "following him around" up and down Harrison Avenue for the previous few days. As if the awkward stalking weren’t enough, the suspect has also resorted to slapping herself in the face and telling the victim that she’ll tell the police he had done the damage. Good luck with that.
