The record-breaking snowfall and its long duration as an impediment to travel took a toll on local businesses as well as on the nerves of Boston residents and commuters.
In an effort to get Bostonians out and about, shopping and dining again, the city of Boston will present Acoustic on Main, a 10-day street music series that will showcase performers outside of participating stores and restaurants in Main Street business districts.
The festivities run from May 1 through May 10 with performances from 4:00 until 9:00 PM, and South End businesses that have already signed on to feature musicians include Flour Bakery on Washington Street, Boston Chops and Estragon. In a press statement, Boston Chops owner and local musician Brian Piccini said, "For many, the idea of live music invokes loud music and nightclubs. This is a great opportunity to showcase acoustic performers and change that dynamic. After the winter we have had, we need all the help we can get to liven the business districts."
