4th Annual Ellis Boston Antiques, Art & Design Show Returns

Weekend of events Oct. 23-26

The fourth annual Ellis Boston Antiques, Art & Design Show takes place October 23-26, 2014 at The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for The Arts in Boston's South End. The show opens with a Gala Preview presented by BNY Mellon Wealth Management on Thursday, October 23 to benefit Ellis Memorial. For over a century, Ellis Memorial has worked to strengthen Boston's inner city working families. Weekend show hours are Friday October 24 from 1-8pm, Saturday October 25 from 11am-8pm, and Sunday October 26 from 11am-5pm. Admission is $15 at the door, under 12 free, complimentary special programs, re-admission, catalog and coat check. A café, discount and valet parking are available. The show features 40 exhibitors of the highest quality, drawing from both previous shows as well as many new additions. Offering antiques, 20th Century design, jewelry, fine art, silver, antiquities, tribal arts, decorative arts, and more, Ellis Boston has been welcomed into the Boston social and cultural calendar by strong crowds, extensive press coverage, and rave reviews.

6:00pm - Panel - "What, How and Why To Collect Now"

Panel Discussion moderated by Joshua Rose, Editor of American Fine Art Magazine. A panel of experts from the world of antiques, fine art and 20th century design will explore - the ins and outs of collecting today. Discover opportunities and market trends as well as the pitfalls of collecting. Bring your questions for a lively exchange of information!

What do historic homeowners and prospective historic homebuyers need to know? Where can one find the artisans to restore or accurately re-create decorative and functional details? Sunday October 26, 2:00pm - Special Guest - Interior Designer Steven Favreau on "Antiques and Contemporary Living"

The Preservation Committee for the show reflects the producers' efforts to mix traditional and 20th Century design. The Committee, chaired by the Boston Preservation Alliance, is comprised of more than 35 members, including the Beacon Hill Civic Association, Concord Museum, Friends of Modern Architecture/Lincoln, DOCOMOMO, The Art Deco Society, Trustees of Reservations, New Bedford Whaling Museum, The Bostonian Society, Historic Newton, New England Historic Genealogical Society, and many more.
