This article is from the July 15, 2021 issue of South End News.

In this exceptional year when the city is still in the process of reopening and reawakening from the pandemic, our local outdoor arts and entertainment presenters have had to proceed more gradually in scheduling the customary concerts, festivals and arts events we all have come to love.
Here are some additional listings that were not ready for publication in time for the South End News's Summer Arts Preview in June. All events are free, open to the public and all ages except where noted. Let's hope we get enough of a respite from the rain to enjoy them!
The Friends of Titus Sparrow Park are bringing back their popular Wednesday night Summer Concert Series beginning this week at 6:30 PM, and continuing through Wednesday, September 1. The first concert on July 14 features the Fifth Season Quartet, who deliver jazz influenced by the traditional sounds of their native Bulgaria. Please visit titussparrowpark.org for the full schedule, as some of the concerts start at an alternate time.
What would Tuesday nights be without Jazz and Blues with Pat Loomis and Friends at the South End Branch Library Park, 685 Tremont Street? The series returns this summer with two shows on Tuesday nights, August 3 and 17, at 6:30 PM. For further information, see www.friendsofsouthendlbrary.org.
The Boston Parks and Recreation Department (BPRD) will reprise its children's Arts and Crafts Workshops with two sessions on Thursday mornings in Ringgold Park. The sessions will take place on August 5 and 12 from 10:00 AM-12:00 noon. The workshops are free and open to Boston residents, but registration is required. Please see www.boston.gov for further details and registration information.
BPRD's Neighborhood Concert Series comes to Blackstone Square with a concert by New Bedford-based drummer Joaquin Santos on Thursday, August 12 at 7:00 PM. Santos, who is the son of Tavares's Jackie Santos, plays funk, jazz, R & B and Latin rhythms with Joaquin Santos and Friends and with Dopelotus. For more details on the Neighborhood Concert Series, please see www.boston.gov
The Worcester Square Area Neighborhood Association is still at work planning the return of its Music in the Square concert series but did not have confirmed details to release at press time. Music in the Square organizer Craig Hughes said via e-mail that details will be posted on WSANA's website, worcestersquare.org and Facebook page, WorcesterSquare, when they become available.
See you in the parks!
